Switch to natural gas in a few easy steps
First, check whether your home is located near the natural gas network. To contact the Gazifère Sales Department, click here. A representative will contact you within 24 working hours and answer all your questions.
Once you have confirmation, you will have to hire a contractor that specializes in natural gas to determine what type of furnace will provide optimum comfort in your home. The contractor will then take charge of installing the internal piping and connecting your new natural gas appliances. Feel free to ask him questions. Depending on your requirements, your contractor will also be able to advise you on the purchase of other appliances, such as a tankless water heater, a conventional water heater or a fireplace.
Once you have agreed to what your contractor proposes, he will send a request to Gazifère to connect your home to the natural gas supply system. All the work involved in connecting to the system is carried out by a building contractor authorized and supervised by Gazifère. Whenever possible, underground directional drilling is chosen in order to limit excavation work on your property. A meter is then installed on one of the side walls of your home, preferably between one and three metres from the front edge of the wall.
Once your home is connected to the natural gas system, your natural gas contractor will install the piping for your new appliances. Feel free to ask him questions about the safe optimum operation of those appliances.
For all natural gas appliances installed in your home, a Gazifère technician will have to confirm that the installation is compliant. It is the responsibility of your contractor to notify us when the work has been completed. We will contact you to make an appointment for the inspection visit.
You should allow five to six weeks for completion of the conversion of your home to natural gas.
