Targeting energy efficiency means putting financial priorities front and centre. Gazifère’s energy efficiency programs for commercial and institutional customers are designed to meet your energy efficiency requirements, whether in the renovation or construction of a building, or in the acquisition of new equipment.

Intermediate energy-efficiency boiler

Gazifère offers its commercial and institutional customers financial support for the purchase or rental of a medium-efficiency boiler with an efficiency rating of 85% or better. The assistance offered by Gazifère ranges from $600for boilers up to 300,000BTU to $6,000for boilers over 5,000,000BTU, reducing the cost differential between a medium-efficiency boiler and basic equipment.

To obtain financial support from Gazifère:

If you are choosing to rent your boiler, there's no need to send us a copy of the rental contract. We will forward your rebate as soon as we have inspected your new boiler.

If you decided to purchase your boiler, send us a copy of the purchase contract showing the percentage efficiency rating of the boiler, the capacity in BTUs and the installation date.

List of equipment Intermediate energy- efficiency boiler (85%)

Intermediate energy-efficiency water heater

Gazifère offers its commercial and institutional customers financial support for the purchase or rental of an intermediate energy-efficiency water heater with an efficiency rating of 85% or better. The assistance offered by Gazifère ranges from $600for water heaters from 75,001 to 300,000BTU to $3,000for water heaters over 3,000,000BTU, reducing the cost differential between an intermediate energy-efficiency water heater and basic equipment.

To obtain financial support from Gazifère:

If you are choosing to rent your water heater, there's no need to send us a copy of the rental contract. We will forward your rebate as soon as we have inspected your new appliance.

Condensing boiler

Gazifère offers its commercial and institutional customers financial support for the purchase or rental of a condensing boiler with an efficiency rating of 90% or better. The assistance offered by Gazifère ranges from $900for boilers up to 200,000BTU to $10,000for boilers over 5,000,000BTU, reducing the cost differential between a condensing boiler and basic equipment.

Support for initiatives - energy optimization of buildings

For the implementation of energy-saving measures, Gazifère offers its commercial and institutional customers financial support of 25 ¢ per cubic metre of natural gas saved, to a maximum of 70% of the cost of energy-saving measures, or $10,000, whether for an existing building or the construction of a new one.

What energy-saving measures are eligible?

Existing buildings

Energy-savings measures must target natural gas consumption.

1. Any initiative involving the use of proven technology to generate natural gas savings is eligible for the program, except:

   • measures that relate directly to operations or to consumption habits, and require no capital outlay;

   • measures that involve an energy source other than natural gas;

   • measures for which Gazifère has already granted financial assistance under an equipment program; and

   • heat-reflector panels.

2. The measures taken must have been recommended following a feasibility study by an engineer who is a member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

3. The projected energy savings must be supported by detailed calculations.

4. Measures targeting the replacement of equipment must be separate from other energy-saving measures.

New buildings

The new building must be at least 25% more efficient than if it had been constructed according to the Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB). Its energy performance must be validated by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

Support for initiatives - Energy optimization of building form

Infrared heaters

Infrared heaters make it possible, in a nutshell, to direct heat to specific locations without heating ambient air. The technology is used mainly in high-ceilinged buildings, like warehouses, garages, arenas and churches.

Financial support from Gazifère ranges from $100for heaters with a capacity of 75,001 to 300,000BTU to $250 for units over 3,000,000BTU.

To obtain financial support from Gazifère:

Send us a copy of the purchase contract showing the energy capacity of the heater in BTUs and the installation date.
